The Bard Center for Entrepreneurship has announced six finalists in a
competition for creating business plans. The center, part of the business
school at the University of Colorado Denver, will award $10,000 to the
winner next week. The competition is for early-stage, Colorado-based
companies that have not yet received angel or venture-capital funding. The
finalists:
CaraSolva: It's a provider of Web- based business systems for long-term and
assisted-care facilities, hospices, host homes and group homes.
Diego Zhang's Burger Cafe: It offers hamburgers in styles ranging from
traditional to ethnic, using spices and toppings for 3-ounce miniburgers.
EPrepSolutions: The provider of business software helps service
organizations determine where best to allocate money based on criteria such
as impact, communities served and ability of the target population to pay.
Physical Activity Innovations: It develops small, shoe-mounted devices that
wirelessly transmit information on daily physical activity and body weight
to users' cellphones.
Shelter Me Photography: The nonprofit organization facilitates the placement
of homeless animals by offering free, professional photography to
animal-adoption agencies.
Urgent Rx/Breakthrough Products: It creates credit-card-size, single-dose
medications to treat medical emergencies.
